December is widely regarded as the busiest period of the footballing calendar and with the January transfer window approaching, the rumour mill has been on overdrive in recent weeks as teams look to fine-tune their squads for the business end of the season.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are competing on all fronts this season and the Spanish giants could reportedly be on the lookout for players in January and with Atletico Madrid not living up to their billing, the Rojiblancos could make a signing or two in the winter transfer window.
Without further ado, let's look at all the latest transfer news in the La Liga.
Donny van de Beek back on Real Madrid's radar
According to De Telegraaf, Real Madrid are back in the hunt for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek and could make a move for the Dutchman in January. Los Blancos haven't signed a midfielder in over two seasons now and with Luka Modric entering the twilight years of his career, the 22-year-old midfielder has been linked with a €55 million to the Spanish capital.
Ronald Koeman remains coy on Barcelona links
Ronald Koeman has insisted that he's fully committed to the Netherlands amidst rumours that he's one of the frontrunners to replace Ernesto Valverde at the end of the season.
"I have two more years left on my contract with the [Dutch] national team and I do not like to talk about Barcelona"
Although he has hinted that it would be hard to turn down the Catalan giants, Koeman affirmed his desire to stay on with the Dutch side beyond the Euros, pouring cold water on rumours linking him to the reigning La Liga champions.
Gareth Bale not thrilled about Real Madrid situation, confirms agent
Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett has revealed to Marca that although his client isn't particularly with his situation at Real Madrid, he remains fully committed to the club. The Welshman reportedly had a falling out with Zinedine Zidane in the summer and his potential move to China failed to materialize after the club opted to keep him in the wake of a long-term injury to Marco Asensio.
"Bale is not ecstatic at Real Madrid but he has never asked to leave. He has a contract and as long as they want him, there's not much anyone can do about it. His unhappiness will not affect his performance."
Barnett also confirmed that if a substantial offer came in for his client, the club would reevaluate the situation and it remains to be seen if the four-time Champions League winner stays in the Spanish capital beyond January.
Ansu Fati has no intention of leaving Barcelona on loan, claims father
Bori Fati, father of Barcelona's teenage sensation Ansu Fati, has admitted to Marca that his son has no intention of leaving Barcelona. The 17-year-old is one of the breakthrough stars of the current season, having burst onto the scene with the first team. The youngster was rewarded with a new long-term contract for his progress and his father has rubbished claims that Ansu could leave on loan.
"Why would he leave in December? He's young and training with Barcelona. He can learn from the best."
Ansu is highly regarded by the Catalan club and is expected to be a big player for the club in the coming years.
Zinedine Zidane desperate to land Paul Pogba
According to Marca, Zinedine Zidane is desperate to acquire the services of Manchester United's Paul Pogba and the midfielder is also to link up with his compatriot. The 26-year-old's contract is set to run out in 2021 and it remains to be seen if he seals a dream move to the Spanish capital.
Zidane reportedly views Pogba as the missing piece in the puzzle and it looks increasingly likely that he will leave at the end of the season.
