Real Madrid have finally landed their summer target Luka Modric from Tottenham. The fee is a region of around £32m. The transfer comes a few days after a previous deal had collapsed with Real Madrid attempting one final bid shortly after.
The Croatian didn’t feature in Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday with the player thought to be in Madrid negotiating over personal terms with the reigning La Liga champions. Despite Spurs holding out a £40m asking price, a fee of £32m with further packages is thought to be agreed between the two clubs.
Modric’s relationship with Spurs broke down with AVB and chairman Daniel Levy after the Croatian failed to show up for training in order to force the move through.
Spurs are looking at French international Yann M’Vila and Porto star Joao Moutinho as possible replacements.
