In case you didn't know...
Arguably the best midfielder in 2017, Modric has been key to Real Madrid's success in the last few years. Xabi Alonso was an expert in providing long passes and spraying the ball around while Angel Di Maria pulled the opposition players out of position through his direct running. Modric is a player who can do both and that is why he is absolutely integral to Real Madrid’s style of play.
Also, Modric was a fan favourite at Tottenham before making the move to Madrid and it seems like the Croatian is ready to embark on a new challenge.
The heart of the matter
With Luka Modric supposedly ready to leave and Dani Ceballos not living upto expectations, Zidane will be sweating to find an ideal replacement for the classy Croatian. Los Blancos were surprisingly linked with a move for Emre Can recently, however, it will definitely be a tough if not impossible task to replace Modric.
Tottenham and Inter Milan currently are favourites for Modric, although reports also added that Manchester United were keeping a close eye on the situation.

He might be 32, but he still can definitely improve any top team across Europe.
Author's take
Modric has spent an extremely successful six-year spell at Madrid and it looks like he is ready for a change. A move to Tottenham could be a fairytale return for the fans and it will definitely be nice to see the Croatian ply his trade in the Premier League once again.
