After the recent sale of Angel di Maria to Manchester United for a British record transfer fee of €75 million, Los Blancos are looking to use the latest windfall to invest in superstar striker Radamel Falcao, whose time at Monaco has not been the happiest of late.
Falcao scored a goal in the weekend for the French club, but his time there has been injury-ravaged and largely unhappy. Fresh reports suggests that he is willing to re-unite with former Monaco and Colombia teammate, James Rodriguez, by completing a move to the Bernebeau.
Real officials were spotted at a local Monaco hotel on Tuesday, meeting with the player and club officials. L'Equipe says Real have made an offer of €60 million for a straight transfer sale, and have also offered an alternative proposal - a season-long loan for €12.5 million with the option to buy Falcao later for €45 million. The capital club are unhappy with Karim Benzema’s lean goalscoring run and want to have competition up front or partner Falcao with the Frenchman.
The possibility of the Colombian moving away from France has been milling all summer, with big clubs Juventus, Liverpool and Arsenal all vying for his signature. His suitors balked at the size of the €25 million loan fee asked for by Monaco, but the latest prospective buyer might just turn out to have the requisite cash to match the audacity of Monaco’s demands.
