Espanyol
Giedrius Arlauskis: 3.5/10
On a horrible day for his defence, Arlauskis could do little to soften the blow, letting 6 goals in an abject team display as a whole.
Javi Lopez: 3/10
Stood no chance against Cristiano Ronaldo whatsoever, with the Portuguese nabbing a hat-trick. Failed to provide support offensively as Espanyol did not see a lot of the ball.
Alvaro Gonzalez: 3.5/10
Overrun completely by Karim Benzema, Isco and Modric, and failed to improve on Espanyol’s defensive form in general.
Enzo Roco: 2.5/10
Apart from being a spectator for much of the game, Roco also shoulders the blame for a needless penalty given to Real Madrid early on, which Cristiano Ronaldo wasted no time in putting away.
Ruben Duarte: 2/10
Failed to deal with James’ regular anarchy in position, subbed off at half time for a slightly more effective Fuentes
Pape Diop: 3/10
Totally overrun by Modric, Isco and James, as Espanyol failed to regularly bring the ball out from the back.
Victor Sanchez: 3/10
Along with Diop, failed to assert any authority in midfield.
Hernan Perez: 3.5/10
Failed to contribute as the defence and midfield failed to supply the ball upfront, except for the last fifteen minutes when Real seemed to have lowered a gear.
Joan Jordan: 3.5/10
Suffered visibly with a lack of supply, exacerbated by Espanyol’s tendency to play aerial balls and lose possession when they did get it upfront.
Salva Sevilla: 2.5/10
Wasted Espanyol’s best chance of the game, failing to convert a sharp low cross off a counter just before half time. A half-time substitution ended his night of woe
Mamadou Sylla: 3/10
Remained a passenger throughout the game
Substitutes
Fuentes: 4/10
Replaced Ruben Duarte at half-time, leading to better defensive control by Espanyol, though without being able to prevent a bigger margin of defeat than the 4-0 it was at half-time
Oscar Duarte: 3/10
A lack of suitable supply ensured a frustrating night for the substitute, as he could pose little problems to the defence
Abraham: 3/10
Replaced Victor Sanchez, though it meant more of the old wine in a new bottle for Espanyol
