The most famous club in Europe that snatched the Spanish Crown from Barcelona last season, started this season terribly. They have virtually lost the Spanish La Liga, but is it all over for them?
Failure after Failure
After beating Barcelona in the Super Cup earlier this season, every football fanatic had their eyes on Los Blancos. However, much to their bitter disappointment, Madrid failed to capitalize on their Super Cup glory. Mourinho had several problems with his management, and current players- not even sparing Ronaldo either in a match against Valencia in the Copa Del Rey 1st leg, which Madrid won 2-0. Real lost several key games in La Liga, allowing Barca to advance further and further. Even their neighbours Atletico Madrid seized this opportunity and left them behind in the title race. Real Madrid faltered in the Champions League as well, with a 1-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund and a drawn tie at The Etihad. However, they qualified as group runner-ups, and now face a challenging task in the next round – Manchester United.
Real in Real Form Now
Yesterday’s 5-0 thrashing of Valencia, that too with all the 5 goals coming in the first half , was Madrid’s best match so far this season. The not-so-favourite for the Spanish League cannot be written off, and are surely dark horses for that title. With a 0-2 win over the same Valencia outfit in the Copa Del Rey, they have sent a strong message to their rivals – Barca – who drew 2-2 with Malaga. The good thing about Los Blancos is that they are driven by a proverbial phrase – Form is temporary, Class is Permanent. With El Classico, Copa Del Rey knockout round and the much important clash with Man United on the horizon, the Madridistas can breathe a sigh of relief as the best in Spain last season have come back to their top form.
UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: FIXED GOAL
I stated earlier in my previous article that Real is one of the favourites to win this trophy, 2nd favourite after their rivals Barca, to be precise. Madrid were in poor form up until the last few weeks, and their only way of living now is total decimation. Great form of a great side is not a good sign for any opposition, but great form of “GREAT REAL MADRID” is definitely the worst sign for any team on this planet. Perhaps Manchester United may be the most unfortunate ones to clash with Real’s anger next month in a mouth-watering 1st leg of Champions League at the Santiago Bernabeu. The wrath of Madrid is likely to come down on Barcelona as well in next month’s El Clasico, who themselves have lost their supreme touch after a 2-3 loss to Real Sociedad and a 2-2 draw with Malaga. So, Real coming into prime form, targeting the Champions League, is an ideal platform to complete the promise that the Special One has kept.
Madrid: Walking Zombies
They were so ordinary in the recent few months that pundits, fans and media said that the Spanish League is out of their hand. However, with the recent form, they are back from the dead. Madrid are currently the most feared team in Europe as they have nothing to lose. They have their fixed targets this season- Champions League and Copa Del Rey. Who in this world can stop such a strong force driven by their star, Cristiano Ronaldo? He has already scored 7 goals in 3 games this year and looks in real hot form.
Conclusion
Real Madrid have come alive at the right time. With important stages of their fixed goal tournaments coming closer and closer, Madrid are rising higher and higher. To think that they would lose against United and falter in Copa Del Rey when they were in poor form was slightly appropriate, but with their recent outburst, there is nobody in this planet who can say that I know a team who can stop this Real storm. Nobody!
