Real Madrid have completed their third transfer of the summer with the signing of Costa Rican international goalkeeper Keylor Navas from Levante, the club announced.
Compared to their previous two transfers (in which they splashed out a combined €85million), this was a much low key affair, as the Costa Rican international arrived at the Bernabeu for a fee of €10million.
Navas joined Levante initially on loan from Albacete in 2011, before making his transfer permanent the following year.
The South American has had a growing reputation of being one of the best goalkeepers in La Liga, and Navas did no harm to it with some stupendous performances for his country in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup.
His displays in Brazil really brought him to the fore as he helped Costa Rica to reach the quarter-finals of the event. He has been a constant topic of speculation ever since the World Cupm with all the top clubs across Europe linked with the custodian.
However, Navas put all rumours to rest today, penning a six-year deal with the European champions.
The signing will surely result in some interesting behind the scenes action at the Bernanbeu. Ancelotti split goal-keeping duties last season with Diego Lopez carrying out the job in La Liga, while 31-year old club captain Iker Cassilas was entrusted with the role in the Champions League and Cup competitions.
