Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has rubbished reports which claimed that he is unhappy at the club and wants to leave the Santiago Bernabeu. The Portuguese superstar had hardly spoken to the media after Real's defeat to Schalke 04 in the Champions League.
Ronaldo had said after the defeat that he will not speak to the media until the season got over. After months of speculation, Ronaldo finally broke his near-silence to refute all the rumours that have been doing the rounds surrounding his Real Madrid future.
"I would sincerely like the false reports to stop and to be left a little in peace," Ronaldo was quoted as saying by the Portuguese newspaper A Bola. Ronaldo had scored 61 goals in all competitions in the 2014/15 season. It was his career-best haul for a single campaign that earned him the golden boot.
Unhappy with Perez
For all his efforts, Real Madrid failed to win any major titles last term which saw the sacking of Carlos Ancelotti who was eventually replaced by Rafa Benitez. It is believed that Ancelotti had Ronaldo's support and the Portuguese captain was upset by the Italian manager's departure.
There were also speculations that the appointment of Benitez in place of Ancelotti soured Ronaldo's relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. The 30-year-old had gone out of his way to support Ancelotti only to see the Italian leave the Bernabeu.
But his latest comments have quashed all rumours and he even goes on to claim that Madrid is the best club in the world.
"Reports that I have sought to create conflicts between myself and Real Madrid are absolutely false. I am very happy at the best club in the world and very focused and confident of a new season full of successes."
There were speculations linking the World Player of the Year to PSG and also a sensational return to Manchester United. Ronaldo who is currently holidaying in Miami is reportedly keen on Sergio Ramos to stay on at Real Madrid.
Manchester United are said to have made a £35m offer for the centre-back which was rejected by the Spanish club. The Real Madrid vice-captain is currently involved in a contract tussle with the club and is linked with a move away from the club. Spanish paper AS is reporting that Ronaldo made a call to Ramos from Florida urging him not to sign for Manchester United.
