What's the story?
Real Madrid are willing to spend hugely to rebuild their squad as they continue their hunt for a world-class goalscorer. The Los Blancos are currently enduring a tough season after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus and are currently placed third in the La Liga, 10 points behind their arch-rivals and league leaders Barcelona.
According to The Sun, Los Blancos are planning to make a shock move for Juventus starlet Paulo Dybala. The Spanish giants are willing to splash the cash on a world-class forward and Dybala tops their wish list.
In case you didn't know...
Paulo Dybala has been a sensation since his arrival at Turin. He has scored 54 goals in 115 Serie A appearances so far and helped Juventus win multiple titles. For a 25-year-old, the Argentine forward has clearly surpassed the expectations of everyone as his staggering statistics depict his caliber upfront.
Although Dybala has been on his usual best in the UEFA Champions League by scoring 5 goals in just 4 appearances, he is yet to show the same efficiency for Juventus in the Serie A.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are in desperate need of a goalscorer after the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. Cristiano Ronaldo needs no introduction and it is crystal clear that the Los Blancos are left without a talisman after his departure.
The heart of the matter
Los Blancos has endured a bit of downfall in their form since the departure of their greatest goalscorer. Cristiano Ronaldo is obviously irreplaceable, but Florentino Perez has failed to bring in any world-class reinforcements after his departure.
There is no doubt that forwards like Benzema, Mariano, Bale, and Asensio are not yet equipped to lead Real Madrid as they failed to step up so far in this season. Moreover, Los Blancos are dealing with multiple injuries and off form of key players which has hampered their hopes for any major silverware this season.
As a result, the Real Madrid hierarchy are looking to rebuild the squad with some world class signings and the Argentine attacker tops their wish list according to the report.
Rumour rating: 6/10
It looks extremely unlikely that Dybala would leave Turin at the middle of the season but he can be persuaded in the following summer transfer window.
His move to Real Madrid will deal a huge blow to Pep Guardiola as the Manchester City boss was looking forward to working with the Argentine forward.
What's next?
While Juventus are the top of Serie A, they face a crucial tie in the knockout rounds of Champions League against Atletico Madrid. Dybala might play a pivotal role if Juventus manages to get to the next round.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are still trying to get back at their usual best and they are on their way after the 2-0 victory against Sevilla. Although La Liga seems unlikely for Santiago Solari's men, they desperately need reinforcements to challenge for the Champions League and Copa Del Rey this season.
