Real Madrid transfer round-up: Modric to Bayern, Bale-de Gea swap deal, PSG want Mbappe and more

Recent reports have suggested that David de Gea will leave Manchester United in the summer

Meulensteen wants Man United to ask for Bale

Former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen believes Jose Mourinho must ask for Gareth Bale in a swap deal if Real Madrid come calling for David de Gea. Zinedine Zidane is expected to make a move for de Gea this summer after Keylor Navas’s error-prone performances this season.

Over the last few weeks, both British and Spanish media have looked at the possibility of a swap deal between Manchester United and Real, however, James Rodriguez or Isco were discussed as the potential arrivals at Old Trafford. However, Meulensteen wants his former club to go all out and demand Bale in exchange for De Gea.

Speaking to TalkSport, the 53-year-old said: “You can’t stop the speculation – it won’t go away. As a manager you have to say, ‘OK, what is really the case here with De Gea? Does he want to go? Is he going? What is the best scenario for us.”

“For instance, they say ‘Ok, you get De Gea, we want Bale’. There has to be something where Manchester United come out of it even better.”

Bayern Munich are expected to make a move for Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, who turns 32 this summer. According to reports from Don Balon, Real are willing to listen to the offers for Modric as they want to replace the Croatian with a younger midfielder.

According to reports, Real Madrid want £27million for the 31-year-old who joined the club from Tottenham back in 2012. Bayern and Real share healthy relations after concluding the transfers of Arjen Robben, Xabi Alonso and Toni Kroos in recent seasons.

PSG have become the latest team to join the race to sign Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe, according to reports from AS. Mbappe is linked with a move away from Stade Louis II this summer, with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Barcelona all interested in the signature of the Frenchman.

AS suggests that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is willing to break the bank to sign Mbappe who has scored 22 goals in 36 games for AS Monaco this season.

Earlier this week, Monaco’s sporting director Antonio Cordon confirmed that Mbappe has a release clause in his contract which will make it very hard for the Ligue 1 side to keep hold of their star player, who is under contract with Monaco until the end of 2019.

AC Milan want to sign either one of the Real Madrid strikers, Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata, according to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport. Milan president Silvio Berlusconi recently sold his shares of the San Siro outfit to a Chinese consortium, who are expected to splash over £150m this summer into a massive squad overhaul.

The report claims that Carlos Bacca will be sold by Milan next season which leaves Suso as their only frontman in the squad. Morata and Benzema are expected to quit Real Madrid in the summer with Marca claiming that Cristiano Ronaldo will play as a centre forward with Eden Hazard tipped to sign in a £100m deal from Chelsea this summer.
