Real Madrid Versus Tottenham Hotspur: Who Entertains Whom

Cristiano Ronaldo: one of the biggest flops of this World Cup

When Real Madrid were drawn against Tottenham Hotspur for the UEFA Champions League quarter–final, the first thing that came to mind was that Real Madrid, without doubts will be one of the names on the board, ready for the semi finals. So, is Tottenham just a simple obstacle blocking their way into grabbing the title ‘Champions of Europe’ again? Will it really be a stroll in the park for Jose Mourinho’s men? The Lilywhites, being at a stage (quarter finals) where they have reach for the first time, doesn’t look convincing to go any further. Nevertheless, you wouldn’t want to miss this hell of a clash.

Cristiano Ronaldo: Still Doubtful Against Spurs

To discuss any ‘luck’ that the Spurs might have to beat the Spanish Giants might be hilarious but Spurs being one of the top clubs in the Premier League would not throw up the white flag just yet. Although getting a ‘hat-trick’ of goalless games in the last three matches (Milan, West Ham and Wigan), the club, the manager, the confidence and the never-say-die attitude seems to still burn in the Lilywhites.

Nevertheless, key player, Gareth Bale went through an injury phase and is set to make a comeback tomorrow. After missing the match against Wigan, he can’t stand to miss another match, especially when it’s a crucial and a rare game coming up against Real Madrid. With Alan Hutton missing the game (meniscus tear), Bale’s presence in this game will prove to be a boon for the whole team as the Welsh wonder is one of the players who complete the team alongside Aaron Lennon, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Luca Modric, and Jermaine Defoe. Having him on the team would create a possibility for Spurs to move into the semi finals to go against Barcelona/Shaktar Donestk.

Gareth Bale: The Key Man for Spurs

On the other side, Real Madrid, were wounded days ago by Sporting Gijon who beat them 1-0 in their own backyard. It was a terrible end to their unbeaten home run this season and even more terrible for Boss Jose Mourinho who lost his first home game since 2002. Like any wounded team, The Los Galacticos will look to bounce back and have the game quickly wrap up. If Madrid were to win against Spurs, then it will be an All-Spain semi finals provided Barcelona win against Shaktar Donestk. El Classico again!

Moreover these past few days have been tough on The Los Galacticos as they struggle to get all their players in line. Key players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain are reportedly doubtful due to injuries. Having lost Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain is still fine as they still have the loan boy Adebayor as their strike man. But to losing Cristiano Ronaldo, with an important clash coming up is never a question! Jose Mourinho is definitely not happy about this. Losing Ronaldo in this game can prove to be fatal as they have struggle to win against Sporting Gijon at home without their fantastic foward.

Report’s has it that, in their intention to win against the Lilywhites, Mourinho is planning to ‘risk’ the striker by playing him. It’s neither a good or a bad decision but multiple situations can erupt. Situations like winning but aggravating Ronaldo’s injury will be a blow especially when he is needed in the upcoming El Classico against the one and only Barcelona.

So, overall, both teams have their ups and downs, advantages and disadvantages. From analysis, this will be a fair and interesting game. Although The Los Galacticos are favourites in this clash, nothing is decided until the final whistle is blown.
