#2 Micheal Owen
Michael Owen was one of Liverpool’s best ever players and his career was only going up – until he moved to Real Madrid.
At just 17, Owen burst onto the scene at Anfield and took the Premier League by storm, scoring a staggering 118 goals in 216 Premier League games.
In 2004 a free transfer saw him move to Real Madrid, which seemed like a major step-up in a career at the time. Despite all the plaudits he had received in the red of Liverpool, Owen struggled to earn a regular spot in the starting line-up in Madrid and eventually faded into oblivion.
Just a year later, he moved back to England with Newcastle United in a bid to revive his former glory before playing for Liverpool's eternal rivals, Manchester United, for a brief period.
