Reports have suggested that Bale and Ronaldo do not always see eye to eye

Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that performances on the pitch are more important than relationships off it.

The Portuguese captain was asked about his relationship with fellow Real Madrid forwards Bale and Benzema in comparison to the close bond shared between Barcelona’s super attacking trio of Messi, Neymar and Suarez.

There have been rumours that Cristiano Ronaldo has been miffed at the fact that Gareth Bale’s £85m move overshadowed his own transfer to Real Madrid, however, he has insisted that it is not the case and he feels pretty appreciated playing for Los Blancos.

"Do I feel appreciated? Yes, of course, absolutely. How could it not be so? I always play, I’ve scored a few goals and I’m at the best club in the world," he added.

"Why have I struggled to score away from home? Can you name one player who has scored more away from home than me since I’ve been in Spain?”

Ronaldo then stormed off the press conference allowing Zidane to answer the rest of it saying:

"No, you can’t, there aren’t any. Bye everyone."

Ronaldo reveals admiration for Roma legend Francesco Totti

Real Madrid face Roma in an important Champions League match on Wednesday and Ronaldo has revelaed his respect and admiration for Roma captain Totti.

"Totti is amazing, a reference for every player, and he has shown that age isn't important in football," Ronaldo enthused. "He is good for football, for kids and for everyone.”

“ I used to admire his style of play while growing up and he has been absolutely superb for Roma for all these years.”

"This tie is as equal as Roma coach Luciano Spalletti says but, when the match starts, this can change. We will see at the end."

Spalleti meanwhile said he would not be paying any extra special attention to Ronaldo who he believed was still one of the best players in the world.

"I don't think so," the Roma coach said when asked whether Ronaldo is a fading force.

"Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world. He can always make the difference.

"He's a modern player: strong, fast, and able to score a lot of goals. But I won't make a cage around him, I won't use three players to mark him.

"The player to counter Ronaldo must be - amongst other things - quick. Alessandro Florenzi could be an option."
