Beverage giant Red Bull intent on buying a football club in England and make it a force to reckon with on the world stage.
The company is hunting for a club and have Anglophile coach Ralf Rangnick, sporting director of Red Bull Salzburg, leading the lookout.
Red Bull currently own a number of clubs in USA, Austria, Germany, Brazil and Ghana the most famous being American club New York Red Bulls who have former Arsenal striker Thiery Henry on their books.
The Austrian based firm also owns two formula 1 teams Scuderia Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing, the latter have won three consecutive formula 1 titles.
Ralf Rangnick, Sporting director of Red Bull Salzburg, has been asked by the company to find a good English club for them to invest in.
An inside source was quoted as saying: “Red Bull want a team to take into the Champions League. It is the only market they have not reached yet. Ideally this would be in the London area, but both Everton and Liverpool interest them too because it would not take much to get them to that level.
“They have looked at the Championship, but you can spend fortunes there and not make any progress.”
Ralf Rangnick has a good reputation in football with managerial stints at clubs like Hannover 96, Vfb Stuttgart and Schalke 04. Rangnick will also have a free hand in the decisions of the club.
Red Bull’s interest in the Premier League has spread like wild fire and they should have no difficulty in acquiring a club.
The company cemented its status in Formula One with Red Bull racing aiming to win their fourth trophy in a row. If the manage to succeed in purchasing a club in England it could give them a big boost.
Red Bulls is hopes to build a club capable of winning the Champions League, one of the most prestigious trophies in European football.
