Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has admitted that while he intends to see it through the end of his contract with the Merseyside club, he has not completely taken the idea of a possible move to a high-profile club in the future, off the table.

The Spanish International has been linked with a potential transfer to Barcelona ever since Victor Valdes confirmed his decision to not sign a new contract.

While Valdes hopes to play out the remaining 12 months of his contract at the Nou Camp, Reina has made it clear that he is currently happy and satisfied with his stay at the Liverpool.

“My situation is clear. I have a three-year contract with Liverpool, although in football you can never tell,” he said.

“I’m very happy and satisfied at Liverpool, I feel valued and respected.

“Logically, if there was a chance to improve and go to a bigger club it would be a good opportunity, although there are few clubs bigger than Liverpool.

When asked if his time in the Premier League had come to an end, Reina, who is currently on international duty with Spain at the Confederations Cup in Brazil, said: “I don’t think so. Nor do I think that is a possibility. The best option for my family is for me to stick with Liverpool.”
