Berlin, Feb 24 (IANS) Pep Guardiola’s team seems unstoppable as the Bavarians remain unbeaten at their 47th match after a 4-0 win at Hannover, meanwhile Frankfurt and Bremen shared points to close the 22nd round of Bundesliga .
The German record champions are on their way to defend their Bundesliga title as Bayern established a 19-point lead to their chasers. It is Bayern Munich’s 14th straight win Sunday, Xinhua reported.
The hosts staged an aggressive opening period to make Bayern Munich’s game difficult from the start.
Hannover were effective as Bayern struggled to gain a foothold into the match. Jerome Boateng worked out the only noteworthy chance at the 11th minute for the visitors.
Hannover had the golden opportunity four minutes later but Bayern goalkeeper Tom Starke denied Hannover’s Artjoms Rudnevs one on one.
As the match progressed Bayern took the rein and that is how it came that Thomas Mueller broke the deadlock at the 24th minute. The German International headed home a cross by Rafinha from seven meters.
Bayern dominated the match minutes later as Thiago Alcantara brought down Bastian Schweinsteiger‘s lob with his chest, to double the lead from nine metres at the 34th minute.
The visitors retracted with 2-0 lead behind but Hannover’s Mame Biram Diouf and Szabolcs Huszti were not able to capitalize on Bayern’s laxness after the restart.
Nonetheless, Hannover’s chances were a wakening call for the Bavarians as Thomas Mueller wrapped up his brace at the 59th minute following combination via David Alaba and Mario Mandzukic.
The German giants were not done with the scoring when Mario Mandzukic exploited a moment of madness by Hannover’s goalkeeper Ron Robert Zieler to round off the comfortable 4-0 win.
Bayern tighten their first place with 62 points while Hannover remain on 11th position with 24 points.
Elsewhere, Frankfurt were held by ten-men Bremen to a goal-less draw after 90 minutes.
The “Eagles” dominated the game but Alexander Meier were only able to rattle the woodwork twice. Bremen had to play nearly one hour with ten men yet Frankfurt were unable to overcome Bremen’s bulwark.
Frankfurt slip from 11th to 12th place whereas Bremen slump from 13th to 14th position.
