According to The Express, French outfit Montpellier will allow Remy Cabella to depart for Manchester United for £15 million.
Manchester United manager David Moyes had come under fire after he failed to sign any marquee players in the summer and the signing of Cabella will come as a welcome relief to him in January.
The France international has been in stellar form for Montpellier with five goals in eight games which has placed the club ninth in the Ligue 1 standings.
Cabella is made for bigger things and Manchester United, who desperately need midfield reinforcements, will suit him perfectly.
The player himself confessed that he would love to play more often in the Champions League, after getting a taste of it last term.
In an interview with France Football he said: “What I want is to play in the Champions League again. I’m obsessed with it.”
Cabella has drawn comparisons to fellow country man and Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane for his style of play.
Arsenal had expressed their interest in the playmaker, who saw his team mate Olivier Giroud join the London club for £9.5 million, but we’re put off by the ridiculous price tag of £100 million imposed on the player by club owner Louis Nicollin.
Montpellier boss Jean Fernandez has stated that Cabella will almost certainly leave if Manchester United trigger the release clause.
While speaking to Reuters, Fernandez said: “He is an intelligent boy who is enjoying a good season.
“Now, if in the winter transfer window Manchester United offer €18m (£15m) as I have read, he must go.
“Although that would kill the team, one cannot refuse an offer like that.”
