According to a report in The Independent, Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech will ask the club for a move to arch-rivals Arsenal during the summer transfer window. The Czech international is intent on staying on in London as he looks to leave the Blues after a successful 11-year spell.
The 33-year-old lost his place in the starting XI to the young Thibaut Courtois this season and has played only 10 of Chelsea’s games in the EPL and Champions League this season. With one year remaining on his contract, the West London club are hopeful of getting a transfer fee of approximately £10m for his signature.
It is understood that he wants a move to Arsenal as his family is settled in London with his two children also attending school in the city. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger can also guarantee him first team football if he joins the North London club. He has also linked with a move to Manchester United
Will decide when post-season is over: Cech
Cech is travelling with the Chelsea squad on a post-season tour and is currently in Australia. When he was asked whether he had played his final game for the Blues, he said: “I don’t know.”
“I will fly back now and join the national team. Then when the season is over I will weigh up my options and decide.
“I won’t think about it now. When the decision is made I will tell you.”
When asked about an impending transfer, he said: “At the moment it’s all just speculation. I’m not even thinking about it.
“I'm just going back to join the national team and then I will think about it.”
