Arsenal are close to completing a £10m move for Chelsea legend Petr Cech amid Jose Mourinho’s reluctance to let his player leave for a rival club, according to reports. The Chelsea board has, however, allowed the Czech international to leave for a club of his choice after spending 11 trophy-laden seasons at the club.

Arsenal goalkeeping coach Tony Roberts has left for Swansea City, thereby making way for Petr Cech to bring his own coach Christophe Lollichon to the Emirates. Cech has worked with Christophe Lollichon throughout his career and maintains a strong relationship with him.

Tony Roberts, a former Wales international, had worked closely with former Arsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski at the Emirates. The pair are set to be reunited at the Liberty Stadium, where Fabianski signed on a free transfer during the summer of 2014.

Cech wants to stay in England: Christophe Lollichon

33-year-old Cech had played second fiddle to Belgium international Thibaut Courtois during the 2014/15 season. And he is desperate to play regularly for a club of similar calibre.

Arsenal can offer him the best chance as his family is settled in London and he doesn’t wish to uproot from his family from the city. The Gunners have also qualified for the Champions League and will be a genuine contender for the league next season.

"He wants to stay in England, but I don't know where are the discussions. The Premier League is his primary objective.

“But it will also depend on the conditions,” Christophe Lollichon was quoted as saying this week.

"The advantage is that Arsenal is a top club, with a philosophy that pleases him and that is at London. It is a base for consideration," he added.
