Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City have been put on red alert again as they all chase the signature of free agent Victor Valdes, according to the Express.
Valdes left the Barcelona this summer and Monaco have been favourites to land the Spaniard on a free transfer, however, Manchester City and Liverpool have now both been linked with the Spanish international, as well as Arsenal.
Valdes was expected to join the French financial giants, tempted by their offer of a lucrative contract. However, a deal collapsed after the anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered in his right knee in late March ruled him out of action until at least October.
Liverpool brought in Simon Mignolet in the summer to replace Pepe Reina, but the Belgian has failed to live up to expectations.
Meanwhile at the Etihad, Joe Hart has had a fairly poor season, with the England number one in and out of the first team. Hart was dropped earlier in the season for his dreadful performances by Manuel Pellegrini, but he was reinstated a few weeks later. However, Pellegrini is looking at Valdes as an option, with the Chilean not particularly happy with Hart.
Arsene Wenger is looking to provide competition for number one shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny.
