Reports: Arsenal submit £42.5million bid for Julian Draxler

Draxler
Will he finally move to North London?

Arsenal have submitted a £42.5million bid for the German international Julian Draxler, according to reports from ESPN. The trusted source confirmed that the bid came in last night but Wolfsburg are not keen on selling their star man just after one season at Volkswagen Arena.

According to ESPN, Wolfsburg are holding on to a £50million price-tag which Arsenal are unsure of meeting right now. ESPN can also confirm that The 22-year old has been linked with several clubs including Real Madrid, Barcelona and another English club but Wolfsburg are holding firm on keeping their star man.

Draxler has been in fine form in last 12-18 months which saw the winger break into Germany’s Euro 2016 squad. The crafty attacker has been a regular feature in Joachim Low’s side in France and is also expected to start tonight’s Semi Final clash against France.

Arsenal see Draxler as the ideal player who fits the age and the profile to be a success in Premier League. Arsenal are expected to be more active in this summer transfer window after signing Granit Xhaka couple of weeks ago.

However, Gunners are still on the look out to bring an attacker this summer after several of their attempts to sign a striker have already failed. Likes of Jamie Vardy, Romelu Lukaku and Alexandre Lacazette have been linked with a move to Emirates but Arsene Wenger’s unwillingness to pay big has seen those players seek a move elsewhere.

Now with Draxler linked with a switch to Emirates, it will be interesting to see if Wenger decides to spend big on the 22-year-old attacker or lets this opportunity pass him by as well. One thing is for sure, we have not heard the last of this rumor as there will be further updates when Draxler’s Euro 2016 campaign comes to an end.
