Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes will go ahead and join Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. A loophole in the contract though, could allow either the player or the club to terminate the contract,
The deal, according to which Valdes is expected to receive €12 million per year from the Ligue 1 side , is expected to go through without any hassles. Valdes will also be reunited with former Barca teammate Eric Abidal.
There were rumors that the Spaniard could break the deal to join Premier League giants Manchester City who are one of the several English teams reportedly interested in the 32 year old but Valdes has chosen Monaco.
Monaco believe that Valdes could be a vital part of their plans for the upcoming season as they attempt to break the stranglehold of Paris Saint Germain on the Ligue 1 title and also establish themselves inEuropean competition.
Valdes has been out of action for his current club FC Barcelona after tearing his cruciate ligament in a La Liga game against Celta Vigo. A date for his return has not been confirmed yet.
