Jose Mourinho has not yet given up hope of signing Paul Pogba this summer according to the Evening Standard, despite the agent of the French midfielder stating that his client is more than happy to stay with Juventus for the time being.
Chelsea have identified Pogba is potentially the final piece in their midfield puzzle as they look for a replacement for long-term midfield general Frank Lampard, with the England international having opted to end his association at Stamford Bridge, with an expectation that he will look to end his career in the United States.
There has been little to enthuse Chelsea’s pursuit of the Pogba with Juventus not entertaining a sale of their talisman and the player not suggesting he is keen to leave Turin, but Mourinho is still hopeful that a deal can be struck after the World Cup ends, having made him the number one target to complete his summer shopping.
Pogba has only enhanced his burgeoning reputation since leaving Manchester United with his performances at the summer showpiece in Brazil and Chelsea are now preparing a big money bid, in the hope that an offer of £60million will convince Juve to sell.
Pogba himself wants to stay with the Serie A champions, but should Juventus agree to a deal to sell the Frenchman, it is thought that he would prefer to return to the Premier League in order to stamp his mark there after failing to be given his chance by United.
