Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been hot property for the biggest clubs in the world for some time now. Real Madrid’s name has been linked with the striker the most in the last one year. The Gabonese has really found his scoring touch in the last 15 months and has continued those exploits at the start of this season.
Last summer it really looked like Madrid would be able to lure him away to the club but for some reason, the move never materialised. Now, Los Blancos might be rueing not signing the superstar after their poor start to the new season.
They have also received a transfer ban which could cause a problem in terms of trying to sign the striker. According to The Mirror, two English clubs are looking to take advantage of this situation with both Manchester City and Chelsea reportedly interested in signing the superstar.
Dortmund wanted to ensure they held on to their front man this summer and did so by slapping a high price tag on him. But now it seems they have conceded defeat and are ready to offload the striker in the summer.
The 27-year-old himself wants to leave in search of a blockbuster move.Aubameyang is arguably frustrated at the lack of trophies and the club’s inability to compete with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
They lost two more big stars in the summer to other clubs but have recruited well. Henrikh Mkhitaryan their key assist provider moved to Manchester United and Mats Hummels the rock at the heart of their defence left for Bayern Munich.
This made Dortmund even more determined to keep Aubameyang in the summer so they did not lose too many of their stars in the same window. But now they are willing to listen to offers at the end of this season.
Aubameyang will cost around the range of £65 million, a price both clubs would be willing to pay for a striker who already has 59 goals in his 100 appearances for the Black and Yellows.
Madrid transfer ban a big problem for Zidane
Real Madrid have slipped to second in the La Liga table after 4 consecutive draws in all competitions. Three of those have come in La Liga. A lack of goals seems to the be the problem with their most creative player Luka Modric still out injured.
But Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema haven’t really hit their strides this season. Gareth Bale seems to be pulling his weight in attack and maybe the Spaniards do need a change in system or personnel.
But their transfer band will prevent them from making a move for any player until 2018 which is a problem for Zinedine Zidane. Aubameyang might want to play for Madrid but he might decide to choose one of City or Chelsea if Madrid are unable to get their transfer ban lifted before the summer of 2017.
