Reports: Former Liverpool star Emre Can was more expensive than Cristiano Ronaldo for Juventus in one aspect

When Juventus bought Cristiano Ronaldo for a fee of around €115 million, he became the most expensive player in his 30s in the history of football. The Portuguese has so far proven his money’s worth for his team but according to a revelation, he wasn’t even the most expensive for Juventus in terms of agent fees.

Juventus signed Emre Can on a Bosman transfer last summer from Liverpool and he has since been a regular player for his team. Cristiano Ronaldo, too, came in the same window but it wasn’t in a Bosman transfer.

The heart of the matter

While Emre Can might not have cost as much as Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of overall fee, the German cost more in agent fee than any other Juventus player. According to reports, Juventus paid €15.86 million in commission for the former Liverpool star.

In contrast, Cristiano Ronaldo’s representative charged only €11.5 million to the Old Lady. Miralem Pjanic is the third on the list as his agent got €2.2 million after the midfielder signed a new contract with the Turin outfit.

This report comes right after it was revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo’s shirt sales generated a revenue of over €25 million. So it was only expected that Ronaldo’s agent fees would also be a lot.

Can being over the Portuguese here might be a shock for many. However, it must be noted that the German was signed in a Bosman transfer, which means that Juventus didn’t have to pay anything to Liverpool and only had to ensure a good package for the player and his party.

With the league almost in their grasp, Juventus will now look to overturn the 2-0 deficit against Atletico Madrid in their next Champions League game.
