Belgian hitman Romelu Lukaku has been the talk of the transfer market recently with several clubs targeting the striker, but one rumour in particular, has received a lot of limelight and that has been his return to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Since the end of last season, there have been several indications that seem to be highlighting the fact that the player is unsettled at the club. In the last few weeks, his transfer to his old club Chelsea has gained a lot of momentum.
There were even reports that suggested a swap deal could be in place with Loic Remy going the other way. But now the Toffees are looking to offer him a new contract to keep him at Goodison park
Reportedly, Chelsea have not yet made a formal bid for the striker either and the club are unhappy with the all the news that has been swirling around their star. In an attempt to put to rest these rumors, the club are handingLukaku a new contract.
Last year John Stones was the subject of several bids from theBlues with Jose Mourinho even making the news public that they were after Stones. This is the primary reason, Everton have been discouraged to have any talks about Lukaku with Chelsea.
According to the Mirror, Lukaku will be given a bumper 135,000 contract to try and persuade him to stay in Liverpool instead of moving to London. Antonio Conte is in need of a striker after uncertainty surrounding Diego Costa
The Spaniard is rumoured to want a return to Atletico Madrid, but no move is in place as of yet. Lukaku earlier in the summer stated that he had some ‘unfinished business’ in he Premier league which might have been an indication towards a move.
There is no doubt Lukaku would be a brilliant capture for Chelsea but Ronald Koeman clearly doesn’t want to let his striker go very easily.
