What’s the story?
Chelsea will be without midfielder N’Golo Kante for several weeks after he suffered a tear in his thigh muscle, according to reports from France.
In case you didn’t know…
Kante was injured whilst playing for France in a World Cup qualifier against Bulgaria and had to be substituted off after 33 minutes.
The heart of the matter
According to the report from Julien Quelen of Goal, Kante will be out for a few weeks and whilst there is no specific timetable set for his return, he will miss at least two games, including the UEFA Champions League tie with AS Roma.
The Frenchman has been a vital cog in Chelsea’s midfield since his arrival last year and his absence will come as a huge blow to Antonio Conte.
Impact
New arrival Tiemoue Bakayoko will likely take the place of his fellow countryman in midfield for the next few weeks and he’ll be hoping to put in enough impressive performances to ensure he stays in the team long-term.
