What’s the story?
The agent of Napoli pass-master Jorginho has stated that his client could be sold by the club after all, as revealed by The Sun. According to his agent Joao Santos, Jorginho doesn’t want to leave Napoli, but he might be sold to make space for another player.
"He wants to stay, although we’ll have to see if Napoli agree with that. If a player like Torreira arrives from Sampdoria, then that will require an important investment and Jorginho could be sacrificed to make way.
"I think they’d rather sell Jorginho than Amadou Diawara, who is younger.”
In case you didn’t know…
Jorginho is one of the finest passers in the game and one of its most underrated exponents. In fact, he holds the record for the most number of successful passes in a European top-flight game with 180 successful passes against Cagliari last season.

The heart of the matter
With Napoli’s apparent interest in Torreira being revealed by Jorginho’s agent, it is only natural for the player to look elsewhere. Manchester United have missed a player in the mould of Michael Carrick ever since his decline.
Jorginho, however, can not only replace him but also be an improvement on the ageing midfielder who will retire at the end of the season.
Rumour rating: 7/10
The Sun isn’t entirely known for their trustworthiness when it comes to transfer rumours. There is, however, a chance that Manchester United could pounce on him should he really be on Napoli’s ‘on-sale’ list. Since these words came directly out of the mouth of the player’s agent, they can’t be completely avoided.

Author’s take
Manchester United are in erratic form. Their usage of Paul Pogba isn’t really going well with the fans as he is restrained in more one way. With the arrival of Jorginho, however, they will have a disciplined player who rarely surges forward, alongside whom Pogba can shine.
