What’s the rumour?
Matthijs De Ligt is one of the most coveted teenagers in the world. He recently won the Golden Boy award for the best U21 player in the world and according to Tuttosport, Juventus have entered the race to sign the player targeted by Barcelona.
In case you didn’t know…
De Ligt might only be 19 years of age but he is already the captain of Ajax. He is also keen to move to Barcelona according to his team-mate Andre Onana, who claimed: “Like De Jong, he also wants to go there. I have spoken to both of them about this.”
The heart of the matter
However, Barcelona are not the only club who want to acquire his services as Juventus are moving swiftly to close a deal to bring the Dutch superstar at Turin. Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici wants the youngster and he is not the only one he covets.
The report adds that Manchester United's Paul Pogba is also a big dream for Paratici as the former Juventus man is still on the radar of the Old Lady.
Paritici, however, is aware of the fact that he would face stiff competition for the Dutch youngster as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and PSG also eye the teenager.
Rumour probability/rating: 6/10
While Juventus’ defence is strong, they do need some reinforcement as the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci aren’t getting any younger. However, Juve face competition from some of the financially strongest clubs in the world.
