Liverpool are reportedly set to strengthen their forward line further with the capture of highly-rated Belgian youngster Divock Origi from Lille on a five-year deal.
Origi came to the limelight this summer with his performances for his national team during the recently concluded World Cup in Brazil. The teenager came on as a substitute in the early games for Marc Wilmots’ side, but his impressive performances helped him dislodge Romelu Lukaku from the starting eleven.
Now he looks set to step into the Premier League. The Reds have seemingly agreed a fee with French club Lille for the talented Belgian which could rise up to €15million, if all bonus clauses are met.
Origi is set to fly off to complete his medical at Boston, which is where the team are currently going through their pre-season drills.
The forward only started 12 games for the Ligue 1 side last season, scoring 5 goals in the process. The youngest goal scorer in Belgian World Cup history, Origi is a raw talent who needs to be harnessed by Brendan Rodgers.
Origi, however, it seems is set to have a companion on his cross-Atlantic trip. Loic Remy also looks poised to put pen to paper for Merseysiders as well after Liverpool reportedly had their bid of £8.5million accepted by Queens Park Rangers.
Liverpool have been in the market for a forward to fill in the gap left behind by Luis Suarez’s departure to Barcelona. It now looks that they are in for a double swoop with the capture of Remy to accompany Origi.
