What's the news?
According to reports, Manchester United are lining up a late loan bid for the AS Monaco midfielder, Youri Tielemans.
In case you didn't know...
Youri Tielemans joined AS Monaco from Anderlecht in 2017 and played 47 Ligue 1 games for the Les Monégasques so far. However, he is not thought to be in the plans of Leonardo Jardim and it is suggested that Monaco could look to sell the Belgian international before the January deadline day.
On the other hand, Manchester United struggled during the earlier parts of the season but revived their season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and are among the favourites to finish in the 'top four'.
The heart of the matter
According to reports, Manchester United are planning a late bid to sign Youri Tielemans on loan.
Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad suggests that United could look to strike a deal before the deadline day to recruit the central midfielder after an update to his situation at Monaco.
However, United are only reported to be interested in a short-term loan for Tielemans and would not sanction an immediate transfer yet. Barcelona and AC Milan are also interested in taking the 21-year-old ace on loan, while Leicester City have already opened talks with Monaco over a possible permanent deal.
Rumor Rating- 4/10
The Red Devils already have a number of established midfielders in their squad and it is very unlikely that they will sign the 21-year old unless someone decides to leave the club. Moreover, with Leicester City interested in signing Tielemans on a permanent basis, AS Monaco will prefer cashing in instead of letting him go on loan.
What's next?
Manchester United are currently unbeaten under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and will be looking forward to extending that run when they host Burnley at Old Trafford on January 30.
On the other hand, AS Monaco are currently 19th on the Ligue 1 table and will play against Guingamp for the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue next.
