Manchester United could be about to swoop for Arsenal and Liverpool target Alexis Sanchez, according to the Metro.
The 25-year-old had a very impressive season for Barcelona last year, scoring 19 goals and making 10 assists in La Liga, and he carried that form into the World Cup for Chile. Despite the level of his performances, Barcelona are willing to sell Sanchez this summer to make way for the likely arrival of Luis Suarez from Liverpool.
Liverpool want to bring the versatile forward to Anfield as a replacement for Suarez, but the player is believed to favour a move to the Gunners, and Arsenal have reportedly agreed personal terms with Sanchez.
Wenger is confident of signing the Chile interntional, but have yet to agree a transfer fee with Barcelona, which could allow Manchester United to hijack the deal. New manager Louis van Gaal is also an admirer of Sanchez, and may try to convince him to move to Old Trafford instead.
Sanchez tends to play on the flanks for Barcelona, but he showed his ability to play in a central role at the World Cup, where he flourished in Chile’s dynamic system.
Manchester United have already signed Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw this summer as part of Van Gaal’s to rebuild the squad and secure Champions League football again.
