What's the news?

According to the reports, Manchester United star, Anthony Martial is set to sign a new contract with the club.

In case you didn't know...

The French international joined Manchester United for £36 million from AS Monaco in 2015 and is an important part of the team since then.

He played 161games in all competitions for the Red Devils thus far, scoring 46 goals. Martial won the PFA Player of the Month accolade: September 2015 and helped the Red Devils win one FA Cup, one EFL Cup along with one FA Community Sheild and one UEFA Europa League trophy.

His current contract with the club will expire at the end of the next season and there were reports claiming that he was refusing to sign the extension when Jose Mourinho was in charge.

The heart of the matter

According to the reports, Manchester United star Anthony Martial agreed to a new five-year deal with the club.

Martial’s representatives and Old Trafford chiefs were locked in negotiations for months, and the France international finally appears to commit his future to the club.

Reports claim that the winger is poised to sign a new deal before Friday.

Last week, United's interim boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave an update on Martial’s contract situation.

He said: “Hopefully we’re going to have some good news in the coming weeks.

“I think the club’s making progress but I leave that to the right people to do that I don’t know really how far we are away from it.”

Rumor Rating: 7/10

Anthony Martial is in a brilliant form since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the club and is likely to sign a new contract. He scored eight goals in 18 league games this term and played a vital role in United's success under the Norweigien.

What's next?

Manchester United are currently unbeaten under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and will be looking forward to extending their run when they play Leicester City during the weekend.
