Just as the dust and custody is settled regarding Mario Gotze, German newspaper Bild are reporting another interesting turn of events regarding FC Bayern Munchen and Borussia Dortmund. This time, however, it is in favour of the latter.
Bayern Munich’s out-of-favour striker Mario Gomez is linked with a potential move to rivals, Borussia Dortmund. This comes after he was spotted entering the Borussia Dortmund office after a visit to the Miners’ hospital.
Dortmund sold their most prized asset in Mario Gotze to champions FC Bayern Munchen this week, and were dealt with another blow regarding Robert Lewandowski’s impending move out of the club.
With the loss of their two top performers, Borussia Dortmund are looking to rebuild the squad and have already started looking for potential replacements. They are currently scouting Schalke’s Julian Draxler as Gotze’s replacement, and are keen on signing Gomez as Lewandowski’s, according to Bild.
Mario Gomez has fallen behind Mario Mandzukic in Bayern’s pecking order, and was strongly linked with a move away from Munich if it meant getting regular first-team action. English Premier League side Chelsea were thought to be interested in the striker’s services, but a move to Borussia Dortmund would pose as a better option, given the Blues are possibly recruiting Radamel Falcao as well.
