What's the story?
According to AS, Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic, who is on loan from Benfica.
The German club have an option to secure his services at the end of the season for somewhere between €6 and €12 million, which they are determined to exercise. As a result, Real Madrid will have to get their skates on and make a move before long.
In case you didn't know...
Karim Benzema has failed to make the grade at Real Madrid in the past few seasons and has found himself in the firing line owing to the same. He was expected to spearhead Los Blancos' offensive unit following Ronaldo's departure, but Madrid's recent displays have put paid to those hopes.
Consequently, Real Madrid are scouting the transfer market for Benzema's long-term replacement, who will turn 32 at the end of this year. And as it stands, Luka Jovic is a player who fits the bill.
The heart of the matter...
Real Madrid are actively looking to revamp their attack in the coming months. The Spanish giants have already tried their luck with PSG's Edinson Cavani and Bayern's Robert Lewandowski. However, both the clubs have demanded huge sums of money in exchange for their star men.
Besides, Daniel Levy's inflexible stance has also put the lid on their plans to land Harry Kane from Spurs. As such, they have now set their sights on Luka Jovic, who has scored 18 goals in 25 games for Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Serbian has also turned the heads of Barcelona and Bayern Munich with his majestic performances and continues to be a hot property in Europe.
