In case you didn’t know..
Andre Silva, now 21-years-old has had a very accomplished campaign in the Portuguese first division where he has scored 16 goals and assisted a further five goals. However, he really caught the eye of the European heavyweights with his performances for Porto in the UEFA Champions League with four goals and two assists in eight appearances.

He is Portugal’s number one centerforward and given the Portuguese have had a very successful campaign in the European Championships last year, that tells its own story. The 21-year-old has scored 5 goals in 4 starts for his national team, which is, undoubtedly a very impressive return.
The heart of the matter
A very capable finisher, equally good with his head and feet, and excellent with his decision-making in the final third, he is the complete product. Whether it is spinning in behind the defence or coming short for a smart lay-off he does it all.
The best part about the Portuguese though is his first touch and his ability in closed spaces, which is integral to a striker’s game.
What’s Next?
However good he might have been this season, it must be kept in mind that this is his first season of real promise in the senior team. With Real Madrid already having the duo of Karim Benzema, Alvaro Morata on their books and with the likes of Kylian Mbappe linked with the Madrid giants he might not get the game time he is getting at Porto at the moment.
That could be detrimental to his progress.
Author’s Take
As seen recently, there is not a huge pool of world quality strikers in world football at the moment. Given Silva’s age and the ability he possesses, he is definitely worth the risk in the current transfer market for a club with the resources of Real Madrid.
Whether they wait for one more season and risk him signing for another top dog in Europe remains to be seen.
