Real Madrid seem to have won the race to sign Norway's teenage prodigy Martin Odegaard, beating Bayern Munich, who looked like favourites who had convinced the 16-year-old to join them.
The Norwegian talent, who made his debut for the national team aged 15, was expected to move to Bayern Munich from Stromsgodslet in the Tippeligaen back home. However, reports indicate that following Madrid's decision to step in, Odegaard will become the first Norwegian to play for Real.
It is suggested that he will be signed in the winter transfer window and that there are chances he will spend the rest of the season with Stromsgodslet.
The midfielder is said to have attracted interest from Manchester City, Manchester United, Barcelona and Liverpool, but only Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were the realistic candiates. Bayern looked to have done enough to get him to play for them, but Real have sealed the deal after stepping in late.
