Paul Pogba has been a target for Real Madrid for sometime now but there hasn’t been anything concrete until now. The Juventus star is currently with France participating in the Euros. But his agent is set to have talks with Madrid’s representatives on Tuesday according to Sky Sports Italia.
Mino Raiola handles some the deals for some of the most high-profile players in Europe and Pogba is one of them. Several of the biggest clubs in Europe are after the 23-year-old but Real are certainly the biggest.
It’s a surprise Pogba is not already plying his trade in Spain but with Juventus bringing in AS Roma’s Miralem Pjanic it is highly likely the midfielder is set to leave the Turin giants in the summer.
Raiola will hold a meeting with José Ángel Sánchez who is director general at the club. The main issue is said to be the player’s salary. Madrid are willing to pay him 8 million but Pogba reportedly wants closer to the figure of €12 million per year.
The contract length is set to be around 5 years and the €12 million demanded by the player will not include bonuses. Pogba currently earns around €4.5 million at Juventus which is the same as Alvaro Morata.
If they settle on a €10 million salary it will be the same as what Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale are currently earning. But it still only half of the massive €20.5 million Cristiano Ronaldo pockets every year.
Madrid’s approach of taking directly to the player first before conversing with the club is how they usually go about doing their business. Talking with the club selling the player usually comes afterwards.
Juventus and Real Madrid are yet to decided on a transfer fee as of yet but it is suggested that the Serie A champions are demanding a whopping €120 million for their star player. Mino Raiola has himself explained why the huge transfer fee is slapped on the player.
“If you want a Mona Lisa and there’s only one, you’ll have to pay a hefty sum”, as quoted by AS
