According to reports emerging from Football Italia, the Chinese government is ready to offer Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic a ridiculous €75 million a year deal to move to the Chinese Super League. The Swedish striker is out of contract at the end of the season and it looks like he will be leaving PSG in the summer.
However, reports have linked him to the Premier League and other top clubs across Europe with teams such as Manchester United and AC Milan interested in securing the forward’s services. La Repubblica was the newspaper which first reported this deal, and according to them, the secretary of the Communist Party Xi Jinping is reportedly behind the idea as Chinese football looks to land its next big scalp.
There is no indication however of which Chinese Super League club Ibrahimovic would sign for. If Zlatan does end up getting €75 million a year, he will be earning three times the salary of Lionel Messi! Such a ridiculous amount of money might make even Zlatan’s head spin.
Juan Mata would welcome Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United
Given Ibrahimovic has previously played under Jose Mourinho at Inter a move to Manchester United is definitely on the cards if the latter ends up taking over from Louis Van Gaal at the end of the season.
And United’s Spanish maestro is all for the move. Speaking to Sky Sports he said, “Obviously he is a very good player and I like to play with very good players. I don't decide that. He decides that and the club decides that, but I think every player will be happy to play with him.”
Mata considers Ibrahimovic as one of the best Swedish players in their history but he is unsure what the striker will do at the end of the season. “I don't know what he is going to do. I don't know if he is going to finish his contract or not at the end of the season with PSG and if he is going to stay there or not. Maybe he tries a new chapter in his long career, which is probably the best in the history of Swedish football.”
The playmaker was all praise for the PSG frontman highlighting all that he has achieved in his career. “He was in so many countries, he was in so many different leagues, and he was winning trophies everywhere, so that speaks about his quality as a player. It is shown in his importance right now in PSG and in his national team, where he is the captain.”
