Big things were expected of attacking midfielder Veron, who was loved by Italians for his fantasisma on the pitch. However, he did not live up to Sir Alex Ferguson’s expectations scoring just 11 times in his 82 appearances in all competitions.

Despite the Argentinian’s dreadful form, Chelsea tried to revive his career by capturing the midfielder for £19.8 million. As many predicted, he flopped at the south London giants making only 14 appearances in his first and only season for the Blues.
