Arsenal cruised to victory against Chelsea at the Emirates stadium, finally winning against the Blues after a run of nine matches without a single victory against them. The Gunners beat Antonio Conte’s men comfortably, with Theo Walcott, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez all getting in on the action to finish the game 3-0.

The game was a tale of two contrasting sides. Arsene Wenger’s Gunners were sensational on the night with quick, slick passing, good attacking movement and high energy play. Chelsea, on the other hand, were slow, disorganised, weak, and lacking creativity. Antonio Conte’s team looked very much like the same side that finished in tenth place last season.

After the game, some Arsenal players went on to post celebratory pictures on social media. Mesut Ozil took to his Instagram account to celebrate the well-deserved victory. The midfield maestro put up a picture of himself along with his teammates Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez in the dressing room, each one of them beaming following the dominant performance they just put on.
However, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has criticised the players for their actions, saying that their celebratory photos will only serve as motivation for their opponents to get one over them. He expressed his thoughts on the matter as such: “Unless you’re winning, that gives everyone else ammunition,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“You don’t even have to have a team talk. I’d put that [the picture] up in the changing room next time I play Arsenal.
“I know for a fact there will be players around the country going ‘do you see them lot, they’ve only won one game’.
“I’d shut that down [if I were a manager].”
Before the fixture was played, Arsenal and Chelsea were sixth and seventh in the table respectively, with Arsenal going ahead on goal difference. Having secured the three points from the game, the Gunners now sit at third behind Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City. They managed to put some real space between themselves and the Blues, who now find themselves eighth in the Premier League with six fixtures played.
