Rio de Janeiro, Feb 4 Former Ballon d’Or winner Rivaldo has praised his son’s scoring debut for Brazilian club Mogi Mirim.
Rivaldinho, 18, netted in the second half Monday but could not help his team avoid a 1-2 defeat to Penapolense in the Sao Paulo state championship, reports Xinhua.
“I’m sad about the defeat but happy about the debut of my son who scored his first goal as a professional. I am very proud of you,” Rivaldo wrote on Twitter on Monday.
Like his father Rivaldinho has a tall, slight frame and can play both as an attacking midfielder or striker.
Rivaldo has made 74 appearances for Brazil and scored 34 goals between 1993 and 2003. He was voted FIFA world player of the year and Ballon d’Or winner in 1999.
