Robbie Keane has been named Major League Soccer's (MLS) most valuable player for the 2014 season.
The Irishman captained his side, LA Galaxy, to the Western Conference title and helped the club reach the final of the MLS Cup against New England Revolution, which will be played on 7th December.
The 34-year-old scored 20 goals in 33 appearances for the MLS outfit and has been selected as the most valuable player of MLS.
Since joining the MLS in 2011, Keane has scored 61 goals and provided 41 assists in 100 appearances for LA Galaxy. He led the side to two MLS Cup titles in 2011 and 2012.
This recognition should help his team win their third MLS Cup in four years when they face New England Revolution in the final on the 7th of December.
Seattle Sounders FC’s Obafemi Martins came second and New England Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen rounded off the top 3.
Robbie Keane said that he wishes to play for four more years and that it is simple for him because he loves his job.
"When you love something, you look forward to waking up. When you hate something, you're not looking forward to going into work regardless of whether that's football or a nine-to-five job. If you don't love what you do then the battle is gone.
"The last couple of years, I've been struggling with an Achilles problems and after the operation a year ago, I was rehabilitating every day for six weeks before pre-season.
"It's been a long year, but it's been worth it. I had been waking up in the mornings and I could hardly walk and it took me ages to get going in training. But since the operation, I feel great."
