According to Sky Sports, Rolando Fonseca is expected to start for Inter this Sunday when they take on Serie B opponents Cittadella in Sunday’s Coppa Italia match at the San Siro. The 27-year-old could get a chance for making his official debut for the club this Sunday.
The defender who joined the Italian club last weekend on a season-long loan from Porto could play a major part in Inter’s campaign.
Inter Milan‘s long time associate and captain Javier Zanetti is also back and is training hard to mark his return. The 40-year-old, who signed a new one-year deal with Inter this summer, has not played since late April due to a long term injury and is expected to be back in the side by autumn.
In Sunday’s other match, Atalanta also take on Serie B opponents Bari while Sampdoria is also set for the tie at home to Benevento. Their coach Delio Rossi reported a fully fit squad with the exception of Sergio Romero, who sat out training with a muscle injury.
He told the club’s official website www.sampdoria.it: “We have worked so well this month and tomorrow night I expect to see improvements.
“This is the classic game where you will have everything to lose. But we keep moving forward.
“In our country, in addition to Serie A, we have the Italian Cup. We must honor this competition.”
