legend Gary Neville believes that former Brazilian striker Romario is the toughest forward he has played against in his entire career. Neville, who is acknowledged as one of the best ever right back in England, has already played against plenty of talented forwards, but the ex-United captain believes that no one was tougher than Romario.
“I have to say that the toughest striker I’ve played against was Brazil’s Romario,” Gary Neville told fans at the Mister Potato meet and greet session in Malaysia.
“There are definitely a lot of good strikers that went against me, but Romario was that one special man that was tough to play against.”
When asked about the treble achievement in 1999 by one fan, Gary Neville responded by stating that it remains one of the proudest moment in his ever-glittering career as a defender for both United and England.
“I can clearly remember what happened that day. I just laid down on the grass, with tears of joy pouring out. It was a brilliant moment to think of it, since we pulled of a remarkable turnover. It will definitely be one of the greatest moments in my career.”
Gary Neville was in Malaysia as part of the Mister Potato’s global partnership with Manchester United FC and the former United Captain was down at the Sunway Pyramid for a meet and greet session with the fans.
He will next head to India for a fan meeting in Mumbai, on 12th January.
