Romelu Lukaku is set to return to Stamford Bridge and fight for his place at Chelsea, according to Sky Sports.
The Belgian has been away on loan West Brom and Everton the past two seasons, where his performances have earned him rave reviews from all and sundry.
Lukaku is primed to rejoin the Blues’ pre-season activities after coming back from his holidays, following a World Cup, which saw his Belgium side getting knocked out at the quarter-finals stage by Argentina.
The prodigious youngster joined Chelsea in 2011 at the tender age of 18, but commanded a hefty fee of €12 million (£10 million), rising to €20 million (£17 million) following some exceptional performances at Anderlecht.
However, Lukaku is yet to make his mark at Stamford Bridge. He still has time on his side (still aged just 21) and following two promising spells away on loan (scoring 32 goals in 66 appearances in the last two seasons), the Belgian confident of challenging for first-team honours.
Lukaku is set to face competition from primarily Diego Costa, (whom the Blues prised away from Atletico Madrid for a fee of £32 million this summer) and Fernando Torres. Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o meanwhile, have moved on.
