Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku is hoping to play for Chelsea amid rumours surrounding his future. The 21-year-old joined Chelsea in 2011 but has played only 1 Premier League game for the Blues. He has spent the last two seasons on loan at West Brom and Everton and has impressed many with his performances. He made 37 appearances for Everton and scored 22 goals attracting interest from numerous big clubs including Atletico Madrid.
Although his future remains uncertain, he confirmed that he wants to be given a chance to excel at Chelsea “It would be nice to get clarity beforehand, but that will not happen, so I'm completely focused on the World Cup. You know, I still have a two-year contract at the biggest club in England, because that's Chelsea. So I still hope to play there. Chelsea have a good coach. I have been working hard on my game over the past few months and everything seems to be coming out now. I have a good feeling about this competition.”
Lukaku has scored in 4 goals in the past week for Belgium, scoring a hat-trick against Luxembourg and the opener against Sweden.
