Ronaldo gets cuddled by invader at the Parc des Princes

Cristiano Ronaldo tries to pacify a fan who interrupted Wednesday’s game against PSG in Paris

Real Madrid might have played out a disappointing 0-0 draw with French high-fliers Paris Saint-Germain in their star-studded Champions League group stage match on Wednesday, but the match wasn't entirely without incident.

Cristiano Ronaldo was cuddled by a pitch invader in the middle of the game as he somehow managed to evade security at the Parc des Princes and made his way straight for Ronaldo.

The incident occurred towards the end of the match. Once he reached the Real Madrid icon, the fan simply gave him a great big hug. It can be deduced that the fan wasn't really expecting to actually come into contact with the Portuguese superstar; hence he didn't really have anything witty or insightful to say to him. Accordingly, the international symbol of "love you bro" sufficed.

Invading the pitch is still a pretty dumb move which can see the fan charged for improper conduct. It’s one thing to admire our idols, but another thing in entirety to invade the pitch to make an universal declaration of the same. It’s always wiser to wait around for an autograph after the match as opposed to disrupting the whole game just to clasp someone's shoulders in a very awkward and public manner.

The stewards eventually managed to get to the bloke, and removed him from Ronaldo's presence and the pitch. He was probably removed from the stadium as well.

This match was the sixth time Paris SG and Real Madrid have met in a European competition. The Parisian club have the advantage with two wins, two draw and one defeat. Meanwhile, Los Blancos have never beaten PSG at the Parc des Princes (D2 L1). The match was the first time in their last five outings against Los Merengues that Paris St Germain failed to score a goal.

Not the first pitch invading incident Ronaldo had to endure

Incidentally, this isn’t the first time that a supporter has invaded the pitch to show his support for Ronaldo. Ronald Gjoka, 19, was one of the 70,000 fans at an exhibition game between Real Madrid and Chelsea at the Sun Life Stadium in August 2013 and he rushed to the pitch to meet Ronaldo after being unable to keep his emotions in check.

Gjoka was later fined for trespassing and disorderedly conduct but received the support of Ronaldo in the form of a letter to the court where he urged that the charges be dropped. A line from his letter to the officials in charge read – ‘However, I respectfully request that you and your office reconsider this decision and dismiss the two criminal charges this young man faces.’

However, it was quite evident that Ronaldo was not entirely amused by the incident on Wednesday night. Although, it could be attributed to the fact that not much was going the way of the forward during the game as he and his teammates failed to break down the home side.

Ronaldo will hope to get on the score sheet when the Los Blancos face Celta Vigo in La Liga in the weekend.
