#4 Lionel Messi
What is there to be said about Lionel Messi that is not already known. One of the greatest (if not the greatest) footballers of all time, Messi once again showed the world what he is capable of when his scoring exploits made him the European Golden Shoe winner of the 2016/17 season.
A supreme goalscorer, playmaker and a winger all in one, Messi has arguably taken his game to even greater heights bringing a ruthless streak to his beautiful game. Although he was the highest scorer in Europe last season, Messi is ranked only 4 because this list is ranked on finishing ability and not overall ability.
Granted that Messi created most of the chances himself, but if one would be extremely critical, the Argentine striker was not at his clinical best.
With the departure of Neymar, there will be even more onus on Messi to take up the goalscoring burden and the 5 time Ballon d'Or winner will be determined to take Barcelona to great heights this season.
