Rooney voices his frustration about his role at the United

The jury is still out on whether or not Wayne Rooney will stay on in Manchester United.

Rumours are doing the rounds about Rooney making a big move during the transfer window this summer, and now with Rooney being vocal about his frustrations, there might be some truth to the story after all.

The 27-year-old has openly admitted that he is not comfortable playing in the deep-lying role he was deployed in by Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United last season and insists that he is meant to be a center-forward.

Rooney was visibly upset by the reserved attacking position he was being asked to take on at United after being ousted from his role as the club’s leading marksman following the arrival of Robin van Persie last summer.

Rooney was unequivocal in response to what he wanted: “No. In the years to come that might be somewhere I could play, but right now, I’m definitely a centre-forward. I’m after more goals,” he said.

With French big-spenders Paris Saint-Germain staking out Rooney around the clock, the responsibility of deciding Rooney’s future with the club weighs heavily on Ferguson’s successor and Manchester United manager, David Moyes.
